There’s something magical about photographing a family you’ve watched grow for eight years. When this beautiful family of eight reached out to book their spring session, I was thrilled – not just because I adore working with them, but because spring was the one season we hadn’t captured together yet.

Completing the Seasons
Over the years, we’ve done fall sessions with gorgeous autumn colors, a cozy winter shoot, and vibrant summer photos. But spring? This was our first, and it was worth the wait. Mom had a vision: blooming trees and pretty pastels. So we headed to an apple orchard in Caldwell, and nature delivered exactly what we hoped for – trees in full, breathtaking bloom.
A Family Full of Personality
If you’ve been following along, you know this crew. Two sets of back-to-back twins plus two older boys means there’s never a dull moment. The youngest twins were absolute comedians during this session – full of laughs, jokes, and the silliest expressions. The middle set of twins brought their signature sweetness, while the older boys were chatty, engaged, and having a blast.
Mom and dad? They soaked it all in, relaxed and happy. Oh, and they brought along some very special passengers in the car: brand new baby kittens they were caring for and needed to feed during our time together. Just another detail that makes this family uniquely them.
The Tradition Continues
One of my favorite things about working with returning clients is seeing the traditions they create with their photos. This family always chooses a stunning piece of wall art from their session, and it takes pride of place above their mantle. The previous year’s piece gets moved to another wall in their home, creating a beautiful gallery of their family’s story over time.
They also invest in a custom album from each session, and we typically create their holiday cards from these images (or from a session later in the year). Everything they select for wall art and their album comes with digital copies, so they have their memories preserved in multiple ways.
Why Spring Sessions Are Special
There’s a reason spring family photos in Boise are so popular. The blooming trees, soft natural light, and opportunity to wear those beautiful pastel colors create a completely different look than any other season. For this family, it was the perfect way to round out their collection and capture this stage of life with fresh, bright energy.
