So long Indy

Yesterday was a sad day for my family. We had to say goodbye to our furry companion, Indiana. He was only 7 years old, a yound dog at heart but trapped in an old dog’s body. Indy had hip dysplasia. We got the diagnosis when he was just a young puppy and gave him an artifical hip. That hip greatly increased his quality of life. Over the last few months his health had been in decline and he was having pain to get around. Over the weekend he took a turn for the worse and became unable to rise on his own and once he got help up his gait was very strange and uncontrolled. We spent the day talking to the vet, looking at xrays and agonizing over the decision that was ahead of us. The arthritis was into his spine and severe and he wouldn’t have a good quality of life if we chose to medicate him to extend his life. He left us happily and surrounded by friends. My husband and I are very thankful to everyone at Animal Medical Center for the years of support and care that they gave to us, Indy and our other dog Barkley.
Indy we miss you so much already. We miss your relentless want to play and you continually dropping your ball on our feet. We miss your goofy howl when the sirens go by, your big sloppy kisses and everything about you.

If you’ve been expecting to hear from me or are looking forward to your sneak peeks I will try to get caughht up before the weekend. Thanks!

  1. oh no Tiff 🙁 I’m so sorry

  2. Lynne says:

I’m so sorry! I hope your children are able to deal with the loss okay. That’s what I’m worried about with my own children, we have a dog that pretty much has everything wrong with her and she’s 10 years old. I hate taking her to the vet because I’m always afraid of what he’s going to mention.
